BVSC Team Challenge: October Round-up

By Stephanie Bloxham – CSR Development Worker, BVSC

We were fortunate enough to facilitate two wonderful Team Challenge days this October:

Wednesday 18th October – Tesco Bags of Help

On Wednesday 18th October, a number of residents and staff from St Peters Housing Association (Saltley) – along with several staff from BVSC – got stuck into a fantastic team challenge as part of the Tesco Bags of Help grant recently received. The aim of this project is to improve outside spaces for the residents.

The day commenced with lots of clearing, making way for some new grass, as well as making up some planters with bulbs and winter pansies. The second phase of the project will take place in Spring 2018 where the spaces will be added to and many more exciting tasks will be undertaken!

BVSC has consulted with St Peters Housing since receiving the grant, exploring options and gaining feedback from the residents as to what will be most beneficial in the long-term to improve these areas. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers for the hard work and very enjoyable day – we look forward to Spring!

Friday 20th October – Ackers Adventure

On Friday 20th October, 16 hardworking volunteers from Deutsche Bank’s Green Team got stuck into some much needed outdoor tasks at Ackers Adventure!

The team did a fantastic job of clearing away lots of overgrown greenery, which has not only made certain areas more visible but also pathways much safer to access, especially at this time of year.

The team also scraped and painted a large green container which had been covered in graffiti and many layers of paint, so it now looks much nicer!

Several barriers were also painted towards the site entrance, which again makes a big improvement to the site. Well done to the team for making a big difference!

What is Team Challenge?

Team Challenge was set up by BVSC several years ago in order to support local charities and community groups tap into the volunteering capacity of corporate employees in the city.
